About me
I’m Maryam Alhuthayfi, currently working for Zain KSA as a senior Android development specialist in Saudi Arabia.
I’m the first Google Developer Expert for Android in the Middle East and the second in North Africa. I have been contributing to the Android community by speaking about Android and Kotlin specifically, and software development generally.
My articles and blogs have been featured in multiple newsletters including jetc.dev and Android Weekly.
I shared my story with the Android and Google communities on the Android Developers Google blog, titled “Android GDE Maryam Alhuthayfi shares her passion for mobile development with fledgling developers”. You can read it here.
In particular, I help spread knowledge about Android-related topics and best practices through online and onsite events. Check out my public speaking page.
One of the most topics I talk about is attracting new developers to adopt Kotlin in Android development. Adopting Kotlin was a major shift in my Android development path that I make sure most Android developers know about. That’s why I started a Kotlin Saudi User Group.
I am a Women Techmakers ambassador and I help empower women, especially those who are interested to get into mobile development. I do that by online/onsite training, providing mentorship sessions, and connecting with them regularly to 1) have fun! and 2) ensure progress.
Recently I have been giving mentorship sessions as part of Exchange with Google Developers to help other developers and entrepreneurs in the community.
My mentorship sessions -in general- are focused on the following:
- Modern Android best practices.
- Adopting Kotlin language.
- Software development.
- Solutions for technical challenges.
- Suggesting the best technical solutions.
- Career path enhancement.
- Public speaking.
I enjoy dedicating part of my time to organizing many online and onsite tech events/conferences as a Women Techmakers Saudi leader and a Google Developer Group Saudi co-organizer.
The most outstanding tech events I helped organize were DevFest 20 Saudi with over 3K attendees and Flutterista Conference with over 5K views.
I like to do other normal boring stuff as well, such as reading, writing, and meditating.
Feel free to contact me anytime directly on Twitter. I would love to chat about anything and get to know you! 😻
If you want me to speak at your event about Android or Kotlin, please reach out.
